Love, bubs and life on our little farm

Yep it was a busy weekend to say the least :)

Jase and I decided that it was time to spend a full weekend on the farm working and so we did... As I write this I am covered in scratches, bruises, a hay rash and a swollen bruised wrist! Just the war wounds from a decent hard yakka of a weekend...

We had 50 pine sleepers delivered and we used these to build a retaining wall all along the back of our shed. The drains are completed there and with the wall in to prevent the dirt cutting eroding into the drains, we are nearly done with that area. It was damn hard work and we ran out of bolts so there is still some more to go but it is about 80% done. Hoping to get it done in the evenings over the next week. Next comes stairs and then the other side of the cutting behind the tanks.. and the drains in front of the tanks.. and then flattening out the laundry garden, paving and putting in built up vegetable and herb garden beds.. We are hoping to get it all completed with Jase's December holidays..

As gorgeous as it is to have huge gardens and so many yards etc - it is a bit of a pain when it comes to landcaping and tidying. At these times I do envy people with tiny suburban yards that can spend $500 and 2 days and have a completed garden! But really I wouldn't swap my space and big gardens for anything ;)

Also completed a number of other jobs - including stairs for small gateway into the paddock, sinking tap covers, cleaning the shed out and packing away the 80 bales of lovely new hay that we got delivered today. My shoulders are killing after that I tell you. But we have a years worth of hay safely packed away in the shed now - its a good feeling having that buffer against the lean winter months and drought.

Sigh - I am off to bed to rest my weary bones till bubs wakes me for her night feed.. I am sure I will be updating with our further progress in the months to come. Nothing is more satisfying than making things with your own hands and seeing your own sweat and hard work shape your home :) (plus it sure beats the gym! You should seem my guns hehe)
