I won't bore you with too many details but I am battling yet another sickness. That would be about a sickness a week for the last few months. Its been a hard winter for Elka and I. Last week was the lowest so far - a horrible virus that looked awfully like meningitis that caused me to lose 2kg in 12 hours and knocked Elka for six for days and required emergency Drs appointments and bags packed for the hospital. Not fun. But we are through that - only to find my glands are now swollen and I can barely swallow :(

So I am turning to my home remedies - I have started taking zinc tablets which have helped boost my immune response in the past and I have been eating an orange a day. Anyone want to share their failsafe immune boosting tips?

According to my mum, I need to put on some weight. And I had been poohooing her but I am starting to think she is onto something. The last time I was repeatedly chronically ill, was when we moved into the farm and I had randomly gone off food for a month or so and dropped about 4 kilos rapidly. Recently, I have been stressed with work and very busy running after a toddler and am under my normal weight - add to that that the 2kg I lost last week and I am now thinking I should put some weight on (arrggh I dont think I have ever said that before!). On the plus side - my jeans might start fitting again... and I might be able to convince Jase to cook me his soft centred chocolate pudding - yum!

Hmm choc pud sounds like the perfect cold and flu remedy ;)

Lemon juice with water in the morning helps me. But yes also if you put on some weight - I'll send some virtual cupcakes your way ;)

Sorry you are all sick. We had a bad winter last year, I feel for you. So far this year we've had a few colds, but nothing too drastic. I hope you guys get better soon *hugs*

About Me

Amy
I am 30 years old, am a microbiologist with a PhD and love looking after my little farm. I compete in dressage and showjumping with my horses. I have a passion for shopping and a weakness for pretty clothes, shoes and handbags. My husband and I have a gorgeous toddler called Elka and a little bub named Bronte. I am a mother who works and has a career - just don't call me a "working mother". I don't do inside hobbies and craft and have only successfully sewn two things in my life that weren't ripped horserugs. The scientist in me makes me a little cynical and I am more likely to tell you about my life and events then give you a pretty polaroid style picture and an inspiring quote. Not for everyone but I have a bad memory and blogging is my way of recording life :)
