It has been over 6 months since we moved into our house extension. In some ways we can't remember not having the rooms and the deck (oh the deck how I adore it!) but other times, I still marvel at how blessed I feel surrounded by my beautiful new house.

But we all know that it is not the architecture and shiny new paint that is the most loved part of a house but the little things we do to to the rooms to make them homely.

Our parents retreat lounge room has come along way from an empty echoey chamber that we simply used as a passageway out onto the deck. It is now cosy and comfortable with cushions, accessories and tables. I love curling up on the Ottoman side of the lounge with a warm drink gazing out across the deck into the acres of gum trees and sparkling dams that lie outside.

I am hoping to get some curtain rods sorted this weekend so I can finally hang the curtains for the double sliding doors as the expanse of glass can suck the warmth out of the house at night. Then the room will truly feel complete. (I am ignoring the fact that we still havent stained the french sliding doors into the study, it is well and truly on my list to get completed, otherwise they will become one of those things that never get done!)

About Me

My Photo
Amy
I am 30 years old, am a microbiologist with a PhD and love looking after my little farm. I compete in dressage and showjumping with my horses. I have a passion for shopping and a weakness for pretty clothes, shoes and handbags. My husband and I have a gorgeous toddler called Elka and a little bub named Bronte. I am a mother who works and has a career - just don't call me a "working mother". I don't do inside hobbies and craft and have only successfully sewn two things in my life that weren't ripped horserugs. The scientist in me makes me a little cynical and I am more likely to tell you about my life and events then give you a pretty polaroid style picture and an inspiring quote. Not for everyone but I have a bad memory and blogging is my way of recording life :)
