OK another confession!
I finally dared to step on the scales yesterday - ARRRGHH!!! I have gone from 57kgs to 63kgs in 18.5 weeks! 6kgs already! I had only put 9-10kgs on by the end of Elka's pregnancy, seems I am well on the way to beating that...
So had a little freak out - then tried to console myself that my tummy is much bigger much earlier this time (so hopefully heavier lol!) and that I am still fitting all my clothes everywhere but my waist (what waist these days!).
Admittedly, I have found the 24 hour nausea even harder this time round and the constant need to care for a toddler means I get light headed if I don't eat, so I think I have been indulging in more calories this time. But after the Christmas/Holidays indulgences and endless eating out, its time to get healthy.
The fridge is stocked with fruit and my work lunches now only include fruit and chopped vegies as snacks but just don't ask me to give up my Hot Chocolates ;)

About Me
- Amy
- I am 30 years old, am a microbiologist with a PhD and love looking after my little farm. I compete in dressage and showjumping with my horses. I have a passion for shopping and a weakness for pretty clothes, shoes and handbags. My husband and I have a gorgeous toddler called Elka and a little bub named Bronte. I am a mother who works and has a career - just don't call me a "working mother". I don't do inside hobbies and craft and have only successfully sewn two things in my life that weren't ripped horserugs. The scientist in me makes me a little cynical and I am more likely to tell you about my life and events then give you a pretty polaroid style picture and an inspiring quote. Not for everyone but I have a bad memory and blogging is my way of recording life :)

Oh Amy, you are pregnant, working, running a farm, and raising a family :) You should be kinder to your yourself. You look fabulous in all your photos.
Additionally, the more you eat, the less likely the baby is to develop a 'thrifty phenotype', which means that they are more likely to be slimmer as an adult.
At least you have a baby to blame your weight gain on. I was just a piggy at Christmas!
Hi there
Love your blog - have been reading for a while - and it's very exciting that you have another bundle on the way.
But please don't stress about weight when you're pregnant. I recently had twins and barely put on any weight at all (not intentionally). I was 57kg at the beginning of my pregnancy, and 66kg the day they were born at 34 weeks. Everyone kept telling me I was 'so lucky' to stay so small. But you know what? Both of my babies were born with severe intrauterine growth restriction, 6 weeks premature, and we ended up in NICU for over a month.
Your body will do what it needs to do. Pls don't worry.
xx
LOL Deb you are such a skinny-mini, xmas pig out or not.
Yeah I have read that paper too Lyds - didn;t obviously work with Elka - she is in the 98 percentile for her weight lol
Thank you for sharing Jen. And you are totally right - good for me to hear it :)
xoxo
Amy, I put on more with Ashleigh than I did with Liam, and yet within a week of both being born I was at my pre-pregnancy weight (not size mind you - LOL). Your body will do what it needs to do and you'll have a healthy, happy bub. :)
P.S. I'm with Deb - I don't have a baby to blame for my weight gain over Christmas!! Oops!
