We have lived here 4.5 years and in that time, we have always meant to just head West and explore. Funnily enough, rather than doing it when we were a childfree couple, we end up loading the two kids under three into the car and doing it now.
So with picnic bags packed and layers of warm clothes, we headed West... and loved every minute. From enjoying the huge dams, rolling hills and paddocks of crops to climbing the Border Ranges and stopping at the very top to bushwalk and "enjoy" a picnic at a lovely spot that unfortunately was 12 degrees (I was the only one freezing as per usual!). We soaked up a true country town - where pretty much everything was shut being a Sunday, eating lunch in a cafe where service was slow and steady and the people at the neighbouring tables chatted to us, walking the streets whilst Elka licked an ice-cream cone bought for the genuine 1980's price of $1.50.

About Me
- Amy
- I am 30 years old, am a microbiologist with a PhD and love looking after my little farm. I compete in dressage and showjumping with my horses. I have a passion for shopping and a weakness for pretty clothes, shoes and handbags. My husband and I have a gorgeous toddler called Elka and a little bub named Bronte. I am a mother who works and has a career - just don't call me a "working mother". I don't do inside hobbies and craft and have only successfully sewn two things in my life that weren't ripped horserugs. The scientist in me makes me a little cynical and I am more likely to tell you about my life and events then give you a pretty polaroid style picture and an inspiring quote. Not for everyone but I have a bad memory and blogging is my way of recording life :)

Love it! We're planning on doing some exploring in our own 'backyard' over the next few months too. Great to hear that we're not the only ones who have left it until now (mind you, I've been in Canberra for 8 years and still haven't made it to the snow in Winter yet - this year we will!).
It's certainly how I bush walk!
Always nice to go exploring, I always mean to do it more too.
It's so fun exploring with your little ones. And I love how chic you dressed to go bushwalking! :)
What a perfect day and I've never seen such a perfectly dressed bushwalker :)
