Love, bubs and life on our little farm

So I am a big fan of ABC2 - for one, it plays my toddlers favourite shows all day and its the only way I can get her to rest since she won't do day sleeps etc. But two, it plays great documentaries and shows at night (I adore watching Tudors every Friday night)



But I stumbled upon a new model show the other night on ABC2 and I really liked the premise. Its called Britian's Missing Top Model and it is about a group of girls competing in a modeling competition. Sound familar? Yeah but... these girls have been chosen because they have disabilities.

And you know what - I thought what a great idea. It's not condescending, I honestly think these girls could get work. Fashion loves "uniqeness" in models at the moment - for example Jess Hart and her gap in her front teeth. Editoral looks don't require cardboard cut out tanned blondes. Why aren't there models in wheelchairs, why can't a model be blind or deaf?

I enjoyed this show, I liked seeing girls struggle with real issues not the cat fights and wah-wah of the normal modeling shows. And it was a really emotional moment watching their reactions to seeing their photos on a public billboard.
