Love, bubs and life on our little farm

It's not my gorgeous new pony who is a stunner and it's not me having my first ride in 4 weeks after my fall and injury (yay). But it is the garden. You see we bought acreage - acreage with NO gardens, not a single plant. And we bought 10 years into a drought. And we decided we wanted to dedicate a large area of brown grass to a rainforest garden complete with water features and seats and winding paths. There have been a few years where we thought we were crazy - when the Summer scorched everything to sticks and when a rare black frost in Winter killed just about everything else.But then the drought broke and the endless wet has been a great help... and look at the gardens behind me. That was bare earth 5 years ago, and looked like below just three years ago (the horse and I are standing in the same area between the two solar lamps you can see in the bottom pic). Now it is starting to show the potential of the lush shady rainforest gardens we planned all along. Exciting. Growing a garden from scratch with cuttings begged, borrowed and stolen, it does give a sense of achievement.
