So the horse competition cycle has a regular pattern - besides actual shows, most clubs don't compete through the hot summer months. This is the time your horse gets to roll around and get scruffy in the paddock and you remember what it is like to have free time on the weekends..

But come February, sign up day is done, you have a fresh Event Calander in your hand and your head is full of plans for the upcoming year of competitions.

All good and well, except its still bloody hot.

So yeah a little mad but nontheless Spech has been clipped up, washed and started his training for the first (small) dressage event this coming weekend. I am not 100% sure we will make it there as his bad hoof is barely holding onto its shoe, so if he throws it we are out but hard to tell at this stage...

We are also stripping and oiling our huge timber deck this weekend so we will be crazy busy regardless...

But here's to a new year of horsing with no pregnancies to interrupt it!

My horse is pretty crazy even if I am not!

Good luck Amy! I'm sure you'll do great - hope Spech doesn't throw his shoe!

And I can't wait to see piccies of your deck all finished - AND the exterior painting!

Have just found you via Bushbelles blog. Will be back for a stickybeak.
Unfortunately my eighteen month stint of a science degree included an 8am Friday morning Microbiology lecture which I missed all too frequently! Hang my head in shame now!

Thanks guys!

Posie - a horse definitely sounds in order!

Hi Fiona! LOL at the 8am Friday lecture - mine was Chemistry at that time and I missed it SO many weeks! (and I still suck at Chem!)

About Me

Amy
I am 30 years old, am a microbiologist with a PhD and love looking after my little farm. I compete in dressage and showjumping with my horses. I have a passion for shopping and a weakness for pretty clothes, shoes and handbags. My husband and I have a gorgeous toddler called Elka and a little bub named Bronte. I am a mother who works and has a career - just don't call me a "working mother". I don't do inside hobbies and craft and have only successfully sewn two things in my life that weren't ripped horserugs. The scientist in me makes me a little cynical and I am more likely to tell you about my life and events then give you a pretty polaroid style picture and an inspiring quote. Not for everyone but I have a bad memory and blogging is my way of recording life :)
