I am starting to get organised for Elka's 1st birthday party. I have an invite done.. I have a guest list.. I have food planned.. and I have my polka dot theme chosen.

I dont want to go over board. I think parents sometimes get a little nuts with 1st birthday parties and I want somewhere to go with the next 10 years of parties to plan! Dont want to peak too early! Some of my mummy friends are talking petting zoo's and jumping castles for their bub's 1st birthdays - gosh!

So anyway - its to be an afternoon tea on the back lawn with lots of polka dotty food and decorations. We have our own petting zoo anyway! The ducks and chickens will be there, the horses will be hanging over the fence and our magpies will be stealing food off the table or out of people's hands.

I have been working on the theme today - I have ordered lilac and pale green polka dot balloons. Arent they lovely!

Next I am on the hunt for polka dot napkins. Anyone seen any???

I am 30 years old, am a microbiologist with a PhD and love looking after my little farm. I compete in dressage and showjumping with my horses. I have a passion for shopping and a weakness for pretty clothes, shoes and handbags. My husband and I have a gorgeous toddler called Elka and a little bub named Bronte. I am a mother who works and has a career - just don't call me a "working mother". I don't do inside hobbies and craft and have only successfully sewn two things in my life that weren't ripped horserugs. The scientist in me makes me a little cynical and I am more likely to tell you about my life and events then give you a pretty polaroid style picture and an inspiring quote. Not for everyone but I have a bad memory and blogging is my way of recording life :)
