I wake most days and feel happy. I look out the window at my little dream property and take that second to appreciate all that I have. And my birthday morning was no different. But despite feeling already so blessed, my gorgeous husband then went out of his way to make me feel like the luckiest girl in the world.
First of all, I* got to open a little jewellery box (*well Elka did more opening than me really!) and got this!
A ten caret aquamarine set in diamonds. Bling with a capital B. I just adore it!
Then because Jase had organised with my boss to have the day off for a "mystery day", we got the kids ready for daycare and packed everyone into the car with a bag of things that he told me to include - a bikini, a dressy outfit and some make-up. I was clueless! After dropping off the kids, he informed me that we were going to day spa for a couples package for the morning. So we enjoyed a quiet coffee in the gardens before having relaxation massages and then being ushered to our own private room and garden with outdoor spa and sauna, where we enjoyed champagne and chocolates. Bliss.

Feelingvery relaxed, I got frocked up in a new Peter Morrissey dress that I had just grabbed in a sale (great timing!) and we headed into the city.

We caught a CityCat to.... Aria restaurant where Jase had booked us a table for a gorgeous lunch.
View from our great table as the cosy rain fell throughout lunch.
The food was lovely (yes I was lame and sneaked a photo of our mains!)

Stuffed to the gills with beautiful food and lovely wine, and having thoroughly enjoyed a day of child-free romance, we meandered out of the city and picked up the girls from daycare.
My amazing husband
My fantastic birthday was topped off by coming home to my parents arriving at our place, to cook me an amazing dinner and cake. We celebrated with lots of laughs with the girls.
I got so much more than I could have asked for and certainly felt loved and cherished, which is all any woman could ask for really. As for my husband, well, needless to say, I adore him, he is my life, my light, my rock. I sometimes feel almost guilty that I have been gifted with such an amazing wonderful life. I just keep reminding myself to appreciate it and to never take it for granted.
And I do, I truly appreciate life.

About Me
- Amy
- I am 30 years old, am a microbiologist with a PhD and love looking after my little farm. I compete in dressage and showjumping with my horses. I have a passion for shopping and a weakness for pretty clothes, shoes and handbags. My husband and I have a gorgeous toddler called Elka and a little bub named Bronte. I am a mother who works and has a career - just don't call me a "working mother". I don't do inside hobbies and craft and have only successfully sewn two things in my life that weren't ripped horserugs. The scientist in me makes me a little cynical and I am more likely to tell you about my life and events then give you a pretty polaroid style picture and an inspiring quote. Not for everyone but I have a bad memory and blogging is my way of recording life :)

What a perfect day in every way! Bliss!!
I've said it before and I'll say it again - oh so jealous right about now!
Can I borrow Jase and a time machine and go back to my 30th last year and have the day that you had? I've already told everyone that I want a day spa package for my birthday this year, and this just backs up that wish!
And I have to say - WOW at that bling!
lucky lady!! happy birthday!
I'm green with jealousy right now...what a beautiful ring! And I love Aria- we went there for our third wedding anniversary and it was to die for.....the food was just incredible.
That sounds like the most perfect day- you deserve it!
Sounds like an absolutely perfect day :)
That ring is STUNNING!
Sorry I'm a bit late Amy, but Happy 30th!! I am so glad Jase spoiled you so well, you deserve it. He is a very clever hubby indeed...your day was divine and that ring is to die for!! Lucky lady!
