I have decided to participate in Tracey's project where you photograph a day in your life - you can find it here if you would like to join in.
No I know a lot of people were excited about picking a day in May that they were doing something different or fun on. But I decided to go the other way and record my plain vanilla day - the regular days that I have at home when Jase is working and I am not and I am minding Elka. Often I go shopping or to meet a friend but this particular day I didn't even leave the farm. Yes its boring ;) but its what I wanted to remember for future reference :) PLus the photos aren't the best, I was trying to take quick snapshots whenever I had time...
6.30am - brr its cold and time for slippers, I get up as Jase leaves for work and get a few things done before Elka wakes up at 7am

8am - Breakfast time for Elka - so much cleaning for me!

10am - Elka is asleep, I have the baby monitor (down my bra!) and I am calling in the horses.

10.10am - groomed and saddled up for a ride - my beautiful boy Spech and his gentle eye.

11am - clipping the horse for our competition on the weekend (Elka still sleeping and baby monitor still attached to me)

12pm - Elka stealing the rice cakes out of the pantry and upending them everywhere. She proceeded to take one bite out of as many as she could before I could get them cleaned up!

2.30pm - Doing some work from home while Elka is having her afternoon sleep.

3.45pm - Elka likes to watch 5 minutes of Hi 5. That is all the tv she watches and 5 minutes is the longest she will sit still anyway but she loves it and always turns to make sure I am watching the funny bits so that I will laugh with her.

4pm - my milo - I have to have a daily milo, its an addiction left over from pregnancy. I don't drink coffee anymore so I have just transferred over to sugar as my pick me up really!

4.30pm - putting the chickens to bed. They wait for me at the garden fence like clockwork every afternoon. They are lovely gentle girls who love dirtbaths in the sun.

4.45pm - walking up our driveway to the mailbox - its a decent walk since our driveway runs nearly the length of our property plus it meanders and has a hill at the end :)

5.00pm - feeding the ducks whilst I mix up the horse feed in the shed

5.05pm - feeding the horses their night feed and putting on their night rugs over their day rugs to keep them toasty warm!

5.30pm - playing with Elka in the garden. This is becoming a familar view now that she is walking and running!

6.30pm - Daddy is home! Elka has had her bath and is having her night bottle and some Daddy cuddles before going to bed at 7pm.

7.30pm - Dinner is eaten, kitchen tidied and time for me to sit down and chill out...

About Me
- Amy
- I am 30 years old, am a microbiologist with a PhD and love looking after my little farm. I compete in dressage and showjumping with my horses. I have a passion for shopping and a weakness for pretty clothes, shoes and handbags. My husband and I have a gorgeous toddler called Elka and a little bub named Bronte. I am a mother who works and has a career - just don't call me a "working mother". I don't do inside hobbies and craft and have only successfully sewn two things in my life that weren't ripped horserugs. The scientist in me makes me a little cynical and I am more likely to tell you about my life and events then give you a pretty polaroid style picture and an inspiring quote. Not for everyone but I have a bad memory and blogging is my way of recording life :)

It was really cool seeing your day in action - not boring at all. You seem to get a lot done too.
Very cool post - you seem to be a very busy gal!
You are still a machine, Amy. I'd be lucky to get a tenth of that done in a single day. Glad to see the ducks are still doing well, and that Elka is keeping to her schedule. She is such a big girl now.
Oh my gosh... I don't know how you do all that stuff! I seriously get no time to do anything during the day with little Miss Jem!
Had to laugh at Elka at the rice snacks, that is something Jem would do given half the chance :)
