I had a lovely birthday - the high tea was gorgeous and Elka was a little lady, sitting up eating her rice cakes and sharing in the fun.

Elka and I dressed up to go.

My actual birthday started in a fairly rushed way as we had to get Elka into her first day of daycare. But there was time for pressies - I got the GHD IV hair straigtener that I have been coveting, money, gift vouchers, beauty products (including my fave - clinque city block) and a lovely platter.

I was a brave mum and waved goodbye to Elka in the daycare nursery and walked away calmly. To my shock my little girl simply waved goodbye and went back to playing with her carer and the other bubs! Jase got a little teary and upset about leaving her but I was very strong - I had done all the preparations by visiting the centre a number of times and was comfortable with leaving Elka there. We enjoyed some shopping and coffee and cake childfree before going back after four hours or so to grab Elka. She was happily playing when we got there and the carers raved about how contented Elka had been - eating her food, drinking her bottle, sleeping well and playing. What a relief! What was even better, was that her second day - she got all excited when I was carrying her into daycare and had another great day despite being left there even longer. I am overjoyed that I can enjoy my adult time at work and not have to worry about her being upset. Even better - I am very impressed with the centre and their care, Elka was cared for so carefully and the effort put into her and her stuff blew me away considering the carers have at least another 5 babies to look after at the same time!

We finished my birthday with a walk in New Farm park and a lovely lunch with the yummiest lamb salad and mint frappe - perfect!

I'm glad that you had such a great birthday. Your hair looks fabulous, and Elka's school bag looks bigger than she is!

I have a passion for shopping and a weakness for pretty clothes, shoes and handbags. My husband and I have a gorgeous toddler called Elka and a little bub named Bronte. I am a mother who works and has a career - just don't call me a "working mother". I don't do inside hobbies and craft and have only successfully sewn two things in my life that weren't ripped horserugs. The scientist in me makes me a little cynical and I am more likely to tell you about my life and events then give you a pretty polaroid style picture and an inspiring quote. Not for everyone but I have a bad memory and blogging is my way of recording life :)
